Bericht
über die Kampagne der American
Society for Reproductive Medicine
(ASRM) gegen späte Mutterschaft.
Ziel ist die Aufklärung über
die Risiken der
späten
Mutterschaft. Der Schwerpunkt
liegt auf dem Thema
"altersbedingte
Unfruchtbarkeit".
Das hohe
durchschnittliche Alter der
Erstgebärenden wird von
Bevölkerungswissenschaftlern als
Hauptursache für die niedrige
Geburtenrate verantwortlich
gemacht. Hauptzielgruppe der
Kampagne sind überzeugte Singles
mit Kinderwunsch wie June Cohen:
"Some
women conceive easily after 40,
and others in their 20s struggle
for years unsuccessfully. That
margin for hope has convinced
June Cohen, 31, that she can
wait. Single and loving it, Cohen
is aware that it may get harder
for her to conceive later in
life'I dont know that
there is a woman alive who
isnt aware of her
biological clock,' she
saysbut she also wants to
be the kind of supporting,
devoted parent her mother was to
her. 'Im not there yet,'
she says. 'I know I want to have
kids but I know I want to have
them later. And Im really,
absolutely, not worried about
that.'"
Es
wird zwar die Gefahr gesehen,
dass durch die Kampagne
Teenagerschwangerschaften
ermutigt werden könnten, aber
dies wird in Kauf genommen.
In
den USA interpretieren
mittlerweile Selbsthilfegruppen
und Verbände, die gemeinsame
Interessen von Unfruchtbaren und
Reproduktionsmedizinern
vertreten, die einstige
feministische Forderung nach
"reproductive freedom"
einseitig als Freiheit ein Kind
zu haben ("freedom to have a
baby").
- NOONAN, David
& Karen SPRINGEN (2001): When Dad is
a Donor.
As more
single women conceive children through
artificial insemination, stigmas and
secrecy are falling away
in: Newsweek v.
13.08.
- Inhalt:
Die
Samenspende ist in den USA für
alleinstehende partnerlose
Frauen, die sich mit dem Ende
ihrer Gebärfähigkeit
konfrontiert sehen, eine
Möglichkeit doch noch ein Kind
zu bekommen.
War früher die Anonymität der
Spender akzeptiert, so gerät sie
neuerdings in die Kritik. Kinder,
die ihren biologischen Vater
kennen möchten, fordern die
Offenlegung der Identität ihrer
Erzeuger:
"donor
insemination evolving the way
adoption did, with the emphasis
shifting from the rights of the
biological parents to the rights
of the children".
- BRENNER, Marie
(2001): Not Their Mothers' Choices.
As this author
traveled the country, she met many young
women who said theyd rather stay
home than raise children via nannies and
mobile phones

13.08.

Victoria (2001): To Serve and Flirt Near Ground
Zero,
in:
New York Times
v. 09.12.
- BRODERS,
Henryk (2001): Schleppen und Abschleppen
